State enterprises have accumulated debts of over 9 billion levs, it became clear from the statement of Deputy PM Daniela Bobeva last week. Of these 6 billion levs was a short-term debt, said she. Despite these shocking figures, Deputy Prime Minister is of the opinion, through, that the state has not been a bad owner. That’s why she offers the whole system of management of the companies in which the state has at least a 50-percent stake, to be permanently regulated by law, and not as it is now endash by orders of the Council of Ministers. Bobeva said that now companies with state participation in the country are 249 and through their stabilization the economic growth across the country could be enhanced. It became clear that a bill to stabilize these companies is already underway.

According to Bobeva, the problems in state enterprises come from the fact that they donrquote t only work as commercial companies, but also execute social functions. This is the reason why the state is about to be committed to their supporting. Deputy PM very carefully hinted that there are unclear rules to choose their management boards of directors, and according to her, the publicity of their work is important and they must be managed as public companies.

With these words Bobeva is about to blow up the ranks of those who used to receive state jobs through political nepotism. She said she was confident that the law should regulate also the responsibility of the state representatives who participate in the governing bodies of these companies and they should not do this work for free, so that they could be more responsible and, allegedly, stimulated.

How will the relationships between professionals in the government and party factions develop will be known by the extent to which the bill of Bobeva will be castrated on its way through the committees of the National Assembly.
