Bulstrad Vienna Insurance Group PLC leads the list of general insurance, with a market share of 13.5 percent in Bulgaria. It is followed by Allianz – by 12.8 percent, and Lev Ins AD with 12.5 percent. These are warm for the five months of the year.
Four companies hold a little less than 51 percent of gross revenue in the general insurance market. These are Bulstrad Vienna Insurance Group (15.4 percent), Lev Ins AD (13.0 percent), followed by Armeec (12.2 percent) and DZI – General Insurance JSC (10.6 percent).
On the market for life insurance, car insurance continues to dominate – 70.1 percent. Second ranks property insurances occupying a share of 14.6 percent. Insurance against accidents and diseases generated 5.2 percent respectively, and general liability – 3.3 percent.
The total income of insurance liability related to the possession and use of motor vehicles exceeded 153 million levs. The clear leader in premiums is Lev Ins (39.208 million levs). Second comes Bul Ins (26.895 million levs) and the third – DZI General Insurance (15.540 million levs). Fourth place went to Bulstrad VIG (14.585 million levs) and the fifth and sixth are for Armeec and OZK Insurance (with 12.955 million levs each). Benefits paid under the insurance amounted to 80.520 million levs, or just over half the collected premiums. The comparison is purely statistical, given that the civil liability is an insurance with a five-year period of validity in the payment of benefits.
In the first quarter, the leader in benefits paid under civil liability contracts is Lev Ins (20.312 million levs), followed by Bulstrad VIG (10.752 million levs) and Euroins (9.680 million levs). Fourth ranks Unica (6.343 million levs), fifth is DZI General Insurance (6.163 million levs) and sixth – Bul Ins (5.477 million levs). Near to the sixth one is OZK Insurance (5.438 million levs).
In automobile insurance the leader with 23.697 million levs gross premiums is Armeec; while second with 14.054 million levs is Bulstrad VIG. With little difference between them, second comes Allianz Bulgaria (13.348 million levs) and DZI General Insurance (13.179 million levs).
Five-month benefits paid amounted to 60.142 million levs. Again, the benefits outweigh the gross income from premiums. In the individual rating in damages paid there is almost no difference of gross premiums. The undisputed leader is Armeec (12.620 million levs). Behind it on the second and third place come – Bulstrad VIG (8.952 million levs) and Allianz Bulgaria (8.260 million levs).
Property insurance against fire and natural disasters generated gross revenue of 39.331 million levs. Undisputed leader, generating about a third of them is Bulstrad VIG – 11.683 million levs. Second with 6.716 million levs ranks Victoria, and the third – with 5.099 million levs is DZI General Insurance. Fourth in revenues is Allianz Bulgaria (4.716 million levs). Fifth and sixth place respectively went to Armeec (2.302 million levs) and Euroins (2.227 million levs).
Benefits paid totalled 7.542 million levs. Most damages paid the insurance company Allianz Bulgaria – 3.093 million levs. Second with 1.021 million levs is Bulstrad VIG.
The total premium income of the 16 companies that operate in the country in the field of life insurance at the end of May was just over 144.4 million levs. For comparison – in late May 2013 it was 127 million levs. Over a year it has grown by more than 10 percent.
