The Recommendation of the World Bank Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) to be closed will not be executed for the time being. Instead, Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev decided to change its management.
Logically CEO Michael Andonov was asked to elave. He managed to survive during the term of the interim government, although he was being investigated by the prosecution. The charges against him are that between April 18, 2011 and October 5, 2012 as CEO of NEC failed to exercise due care in managing, management, maintenance or preservation of the entrusted property which has resulted in significant damage to the company totaling over 189 million levs. In addition, as of 15 September 2011 until 5 June 2012 as CEO of NEC and subsequently BEH, Andonov in a continuing crime knowingly made disadvantageous contracts – contracts for litigation and contracts for legal services which led to significant harm to the enterprise represented by him – a crime under Article 220, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

From his statement to the Supreme Audit Office it became clear that together with his wife Nelly he bought last year a new apartment of 111 square meters in a prestigious residential district of Sofia. This happened at the very attractive price of 117 thousand levs, or about 1,000 levs per square lev, when brokers of real estate property say the prices in this area start from 1500 levs. The Andonovi family have another apartment – of 125 square metres, in a land lot in the village of Galabovo and two houses in the village of Dren – Radomir. In 2012 Michael Andonov bought 14 acres of meadow in Avdera (Abdera), Xanthi, Greece, for the phenomenal price of 9200 levs. For those unfamiliar with the peculiarities of the Greek coast – this area is renowned for its exceptionally beautiful and quiet beaches. Andonovi also enjoys a new Jeep Mitsubishi – ASX, leased at about 48,700 thousand levs and have a bank accounts for close to 72 thousand levs.
The CEO of BEH resigned because he was denied access to classified information. This means that he can not attend the strategically important country sites. Therefore I decided to replace the entire board of the energy holding, said laconically to the media Dragomir Stoynev and hinted that it all happened because of the checks by Prosecution.
Besides Andonov, the management of holding was left by Bojan Stoyanov and Todor Shopov, who were appointed by the caretaker minister Assen Vassilev.
The new recruits into the board of directors, however, also caused a lot of conflicting opinions. This is the

– the Executive Director of the company George Hristosov, financial director Boyan Boev (who is also president of the football club, Beroe) and Ilko Dimitrov. The latter has already been part of the board of BEH. He was appointed during the GERB government, but replaced by the caretaker Minister Assen Vassilev. Dimitrov is definitely not a specialist in energy. He was born in Blagoevgrad and graduated as a psychologist in 1990 from the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Since 2007 he was the head of the Security and Defense Mobilization in the Agency State Reserve and War-Time Stocks. Lieutenant Dimitrov was exposed by the Dossier Commission as part of the officers of the former State Security who recruited secret agents.
Debate was generated by the appointment of Georgi Hristosov, too
who is also one of the richest state officials. The declaration of his property status submitted to the Supreme Audit Office, shows that in four Bulgarian deposits with financial institutions, he holds an impressive 3.5 million levs. Hristosov himself then explained that these amounts were accrued prior to his appointment as head of the Maritsa East 2.
