The net financial result of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange almost doubled the at the end of the fourth quarter of 2012, and reached BGN608,000. The largest increase compared to 2011 is for the revenues from commissions from stock exchange transactions (a rise of 38.12%). As expected, the privatization of state-owned shares in 33% of EDC companies CEZ and Energo-Pro in October and November has had a serious impact on the turnover of the stock exchange. The subsequent trading in the shares of companies added liquidity and turnover in an otherwise traditionally low bourse activity. The revenue from the registration fees of public companies also increased (by 4.84%).

Meanwhile, by about one third has dropped the income from fees for Internet commerce, because the number of customers using the system for remote trading COBOS decreased. Further reduction has been observed in the money from the fees for information services and membership in the exchange. Otherwise, the income of BSE as a whole has marked an increase of 16.79% year-on-year. In the main expenditure items a total decrease of 0.42 percent was reported.

Changed are the volumes of cash, with which the stock exchange operator is working. It reflects the policy of BSE to focus on low risk investments with relatively high liquidity. As a result, cash resources decreased by 59.93%, while fixed-term deposits with banks and money invested in financial assets (T-bills) increased by 42.65 per cent and 1367.16 respectively.

In the fourth quarter – the trading in own shares of the stock market went variably, the most active being December. Only 84,361 securities changed hands in 58 transactions. The maximum price was 2.50 levs for share, and the maximum ask price 2.85 lev. Apparently the enthusiasm of speculators to trade shares on BSE has declined greatly in recent years. The first day of trading in these securities (6 January 2011) saw deals at 4.27 lev per share.
