The National Construction Supervision Directorate launched a pre-Christmas cleaning of illegal construction throughout the country. At the beginning of the last month of the year and before the seasons holidays season excavators came in Veseloto Selo to destroy the infamous constructions there. Large houses in the area fell victims to the move including the big house known under the proverbial nickname Ministry of Mirth.
Over 70 out of total 169 illegal construction sites around lake Ivaylovgrad have now been destroyed since summer. Representatives of the Directorate promise until the end of the year to blow donw more than 50 other buildings – all built on land that is exclusive state property.
Nine months after the excavators came first in Veseloto Selo, it now resembles more of a landfill for construction waste. Its streets are now filled with notable quantities of expensive marble and granite while iron that is left after the demolition is a dream come true for the Roma people from the neighborhood.
The target of the inspectors are now pools, solid fences, barbecue sites and outbuildings. A week after the campaign round lake Ivaylovgrad illegal constructions in Nessebar beach began to fall, too.
After repeated attempts by the concessionaire on the beach, the company Sirocco Ltd. to save from demolition the constructed buildings on the beach, a bar, a road and a fence, the Burgas Administrative Court finally decided the dispute in favour of the National Construction Control Directorate. Representatives of the regional division of the department, started up immediately forced removal of three houses, warehouses, steel-reinforced concrete wall, snack bar, concrete road and parking infrastructure.
The first orders for demolition of illegal constructions to Sirocco were ordered back in 2008, but the owners through court disputes managed to thwart their entry into force for more than two years. By order of the NCSD the famous restaurant the Ship has already been removed from the beach.
At the same time Burgas inspectors asked excavators to tear down also the concrete rings built along the beach near holiday village Rusalka in the complex, which is managed by the Banevs family. Last year, after thousands of scandals, Burgas Directorate did manage to destroy the 55-metre concrete pier in the complex following which tonnes of debris sank into the sea.
Heavy demolishing machinery infested Iskar lake as well as the a golf course near Dolna Banya. A review of the first day of action near the dam lists three destroyed huts and torn down fences. According to the plan, the machines had to demolish 26 sites, with no permits for construction, but in this action there were dramatic moments that slowed down their work.
The Directorate in Varna joined to the country-wide initiative, too. There they will have to demolish an illegal building in the residential complex Chaika.
Against this background last week the procedure of removing the buildings in Novi Han was suspended. They are also illegal, but the state terminated the procedure for their removal. After a meeting of the institutions and Father Ivan, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Liliana Pavlova decided the buildings to be removed voluntarily preserving their integrity. Thus, the materials can be used to build new ones, this time legal structures, after the documents of the social shelter are renewed. In the shelter live 84 people including 30 children. All these children are voluntarily placed in the home with their parents. Abandoned children are among them.
