In March the summer season is far away, but right now a group of businessmen are frantically talking about sea and beaches. Some of the candidates for the management of the coastline sandy beaches have already managed to sign lucrative contracts with the state. But others are waiting for more favourable conditions, respectively, to ensure that they generate more profits.
Next week tenders for concessioning 12 beaches in Bourgas region will be conducted, and the prices are by 50% lower than the original ones. At previous competitions for them in 2011 no candidates turned up and the law requires the next tender to start at a price reduced by 50%.
The most attractive of beaches on offer is certainly the Central one in Burgas. The active area is almost 47 thousand square meters and the initial rental price – BGN105,859 VAT excluded. For comparison, last summer the district administration had announced price of BGN254,000 and as expected did not attract any interest. The autumn tender for this beach, located just 200 metres from the city centre, started at a rent price of BGN127,000 but there was again no business interest in it.. If now, on March 30, there are still no candidates, the requested amount will not be lowered and no manager will be sought. According to the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov the best manager is the municipality. Last year, due to failed tenders it was the municipality that managed the beach. Then the lounge chairs and umbrellas were free of charge
and the sand beach was cleaned daily.
Among other beaches to seek a caretaker, greater attention may be gained by Kraimorie – North, which is available for less than five thousand levs.
Because of the crisis and especially the fact that touristscoming to Bulgaria are relatively not very rich, big profits from the management of sandy beaches are now truly a mirage, and if operators have to pay huge amounts for the seasonal concession, they are not likely to generate decent profits.
